About this sample
This is an excerpt from a brochure I wrote for an Uppercase Living event in 2011. The event took place at the Saguaro Hotel in Old Town Scottsdale, AZ.
I was asked to provide a few paragraphs about the noteworthy aspects of the hotel and area.

YOUR DESERT RETREAT
We are thrilled about this year’s Leadership accommodations! The newly renovated Saguaro Hotel opens November 2011 and will provide a perfect backdrop to our venue.
The hotel is located at the heart of Old Town Scottsdale—just walk out your door and you’re there. Like the town, it combines the vibrant colors and textures of desert life with beautiful modern amenities, including two famous heated pools, a fitness center, and a spa.
The hotel is home to the new Distrito Restaurant, a modern Mexican restaurant owned by Executive Chef Jose Garces. Chef Garces is a master of Latin cuisine and the 2010 winner of Food Network’s The Next Iron Chef. The Welcome dinner and breakfasts for Leadership will be prepared in his kitchen by him and his staff, so be prepared for some amazing food!

Modern Luxury in Historic Cowboy Country
Old Town Scottsdale is a mix of Old West charm and modern appeal, with plenty of activities for the curious visitor. Past the old hitching posts and saloons, you’ll discover a contemporary art museum, a center for performing arts, a diverse shopping mall, and the Scottsdale Stadium. The town is also home to several famous landmarks—from noteworthy golf courses to Frank Lloyd Wright’s winter home—and close to a number of stunning hiking trails. And then there’s the grub: a long list of restaurants to suit every palate.
The town is an experience in itself, and we encourage UL leaders to spend lunch periods and evenings exploring its many treasures and culinary delights. Check out www.scottsdaledowntown.com for restaurant and activity guides. And don’t forget to make a reservation: popular places may fill up quickly.
