informational web page
About this sample
I wrote this web page and the accompanying news story for Earth Week 2018 at Wells Fargo. Both were featured on the internal Environmental Sustainability site, targeted to all 272,000 team members.
I completed an informational interview with the Environmental Affairs team (the site owners), then wrote the content. The page was designed to inform team members about upcoming activities and create engagement.
We were volunteering time for this project and had to balance quality work with the time it takes to set up content. We opted to use one longer page with anchor links.

From April 16 to 22, come celebrate Earth Week at Wells Fargo. Together, we’ll promote environmental sustainability and contribute to our corporate citizenship goal as a company.
You can find related activities in your area and company-wide. Take a look at the opportunities below and participate in as many as you can — on your own or with your team.
Volunteer in your local community
Earth Week 2018 and the U.S. National Volunteer Week will take place at the same time this year.
Wells Fargo Volunteers and Green Team chapters are partnering, where possible, to organize local volunteer events. For details, contact your Green Team or Wells Fargo Volunteer chapter.
To find more volunteer events:
–Sign on to My Volunteer Time [link] on the Community Care Portal to browse and sign up for events in your area. For a full list of environment-related options, search for “WFGT” and check the Virtual Events box.
–See the Events & Activities Calendar [link] on the Environmental Sustainability site for company-wide events.
Take sustainable actions each day of Earth Week
During Earth Week, every day will feature a different greener every day theme. Join team members across the company as we take sustainable actions related to each daily theme — and collectively make a difference for the environment.
Review the themes below and take action each day — at work, at home, or in your community. Even one action can make a positive, measurable impact; for example, turning off desk lamps and other lighting when not needed can reduce energy consumption by up to 70%.
For more information and suggested actions, visit the Greener Every Day [link] site. On the site, you can also make your sustainable commitments — it takes only a few minutes.
Day | Theme | Suggested Actions |
Monday, April 16 | [Conserve Water icon] | Turn off the faucet while you brush your teeth. Take a five-minute shower. Fix a leaky faucet or pipe. |
Tuesday, April 17 | [Reduce Waste icon] | Print only when needed. Opt for reusable cups and eating utensils during meals. Bring reusable bags to the grocery store. |
Wednesday, April 18 | [Save Energy icon] | Take the stairs instead of the elevator or escalator. Turn off desk lamps and other lighting when not in use. At the end of the day, shut off your computer and other electronics. |
Thursday, April 19 | [Reduce CO2 icon] | Carpool or bike to work. Buy food that’s produced locally. Hold a telepresence meeting, rather than traveling to an off-site location. |
Friday, April 20 | [Buy Green icon] | Purchase a product or service from an eco-friendly company. Give your unused office supplies to the Wells Fargo Supply Depot. Donate to a local school through the Recycle and Reuse Program. |
Participate in Green Shirt Day
On April 18, wear a green shirt to help create awareness about Earth Week and environmental sustainability.
You can wear one of your own shirts — any shade of green will do. You can also purchase a greener every day polo shirt — made from 100% recycled materials — through WellsWare.
Share a photo of you wearing green on the new Environmental Sustainability [link] community on Team Moments. See the community page [link] for instructions on posting your photo.

Wells Fargo cafes will also host environmental activities throughout April.
If you live or work near a Wells Fargo museum or cafe, stop by and attend an activity — and bring a colleague or friend.
