About this sample
These are excerpts from five emails I wrote for the 2015 Wells Fargo Community Support Campaign. The campaign is a well-known company tradition and is widely communicated to team members each year.
The emails were targeted only to San Francisco Bay Area Corporate HR team members. The team responsible for communicating campaign updates to this region needed writing support so my manager and I volunteered to help.
I wrote all content and did a majority of the editing. My manager was my final editor’s eyes.

To enter the raffle, write your name on your tickets and drop them in the box next to the Giants game gift basket, on display on the 8th floor.
Buy your ticket to the luncheon — and bring a dish!
We’re gathering an exciting food lineup for the upcoming luncheon. Be sure to buy your ticket, and plan to bring a dish to share.

All dishes are welcome
The luncheon theme is international, but all yummy dishes are welcome — from easy, go-to recipes to creative masterpieces.
Food signup sheets are available in the 7th- and 8th-floor breakrooms of 333 Market St. You can also contact [team members]. If you can’t bring a dish, consider making a donation toward the purchase of food. (All amounts are appreciated!)
As a reminder: Luncheon tickets are $10 and can be purchased from [team members].
The Pledge tool makes donating easy
In addition to the events described above, you can support any nonprofit organization or cause by making a financial contribution, volunteering your time, or both — it’s up to you.
Your definition of community may be your children’s school, the city where you live, or another town, state, or country. Remember: A small, single act can make a huge difference.
Sign on to the Pledge tool [link] to easily donate by check, credit card, or payroll deduction. You can renew last year’s pledge or make changes for this year. Also check out My Volunteer Time [link] to locate volunteer opportunities near you and record your volunteer hours.
Thank you!
Our local Community Support Campaign kickoff breakfast took place this past Tuesday, September 8 — with great results. Many team members came to hear more about the campaign, eat yummy treats, sneak a peek at the baskets for our upcoming raffles, and chat with fellow SF Bay Area team members.
Special thanks to those who set up, served, or cleaned up the breakfast. Your time and contributions made this event possible.
Sept. 24 food bank event full. Join our second event!
We’ve filled all volunteer spots for the San Francisco Food Bank event on Thursday, September 24. Big thanks to those who signed up.
People have expressed enough interest that we’re holding a second event — see details below. Email [team member] to secure your place and coordinate travel to this event. We’ll arrange carpools or taxis, if anyone is interested.
Wednesday, September 30, 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
900 Pennsylvania Avenue, San Francisco
Join our Be the Match event in October
As far as events go, our Be the Match volunteer event in October is pretty convenient — it takes place on-site at 333 Market St. and will last just two hours.
Come if you can — we’ll be making swab kits and need up to 30 volunteers. To sign up or learn more, contact [team member].
Thursday, October 8, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
333 Market St., 8th floor, Tokyo conference room
Now’s the time: Donate to the Giving Tree school supply drive
Team members across Wells Fargo have been gathering school supplies this month — all with the goal of helping students start the school year right. So Long to Summer, Hello to School Supplies [link] details many of the great efforts that are happening throughout the company.
Let’s also show our support this final week of the campaign. Take a few minutes this weekend to pick up some pens, pencils, notebooks, or more to support Roses in Concrete, a public school in East Oakland serving a culturally and ethnically diverse student population. Our combined efforts can add up to make a big different for these elementary school students.
— Choose one or more paper apples from the Giving Trees hung on the 7th and 8th floors of 333 Market St. Each apple details a needed school supply. Place your donation in one of the Giving Tree boxes available on the 7th and 8th floors. (Note to folks on the 7th floor: There’s still plenty of room left in our box!)
— Donate new or gently used young-reader books appropriate for kindergarten through fourth-grade students. Place books in one of the book donation boxes on the 7th or 8th floors.
— If it’s more convenient, make a contribution in cash. The school will use cash donations to purchase teaching materials for the classroom. You can direct cash donations to [team members].
Thank you to those who have contributed already. We’re in the home stretch and look forward to a very successful school supply campaign!
Thank you, contributors — and don’t forget to record your participation!
The 2015 Community Support Campaign has come to an end. So many team members rallied for good causes in our community this year. Thank you for your support.
If you contributed time to any event or activity (in or outside of Wells Fargo) during the 2015 Community Support Campaign (September 1 – 30), be sure to record your hours using the My Volunteer Time [link] tool. It takes only a minute.
Continue the good
The Community Support Campaign is just a sample of what many team members do throughout the year. If you’d like to continue volunteering your time or donating to a cause that matters to you, keep at it! The My Volunteer Time [link] tool features events happening across the Bay Area and the U.S. in all months and seasons, so check back often.
We hope you’ve enjoyed this year’s campaign as much as we have. It’s a bit sad to see it end, but don’t worry — we’ll be back next September. Until then, happy volunteering!
